A2 Flyers

A2 Flyers, formerly known as Cambridge English: Flyers (YLE Flyers), is one of our Cambridge English Qualifications and the third of our fun, activity-based English tests for children.

The Final Step in Your Child’s English Language Learning Journey

A dynamic conclusion to our preparation courses, enhancing language skills with engaging lessons and real-life situations.

The A2 Flyers program is the final stage in the three-part series of Cambridge English Qualifications for young learners. This program helps children develop their ability to understand and use everyday written and spoken English. Through engaging activities and practical lessons, A2 Flyers builds the skills needed for confident communication in familiar situations.

What Your Child Will Learn:

  • Listening: Understand simple spoken English and follow basic conversations in familiar contexts.

  • Speaking: Communicate effectively using basic phrases and expressions in everyday situations.

  • Reading: Comprehend simple written texts, signs, and instructions.

  • Writing: Write short, simple notes and messages, and use key vocabulary and phrases appropriately.

Program Highlights:

  • Engaging Learning Experience: Fun, activity-based lessons that motivate children to learn and improve their English skills.

  • Confidence Building: Helps young learners gain confidence in communicating with English speakers who talk slowly and clearly, preparing them for real-life interactions.

What Learners Receive After Completing the Test

All candidates who complete the Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers, and A2 Flyers tests receive a certificate.

There is no pass or fail—every learner who takes the test achieves something important.

On their certificate, candidates will see shields for:

Listening

Speaking

Reading

Writing

The maximum score for each is five bold shields. One bold shield means that the learner took the test but can still improve a lot in this part of the test.

Five bold shields mean that the learner did very well in this part of the test. There is information on the back of the certificate showing how the exams are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) at levels pre A1, A1 and A2.

Results are mapped to the Cambridge English Scale, designed to complement the CEFR. Certificates typically arrive three to four weeks after the test, but you can contact the exam center to check on specific timelines.
